Oregon Coast Community College students come from all walks of life. Many are working parents working more than one job as they pursue their academic and career dreams. Almost 40 percent of OCCC students are aged 25 or older. Some are working towards four-year university degrees – saving thousands of dollars by completing the first two years of those degrees here in Lincoln County through OCCC’s robust transfer degree programs. Others are working on job-focused certificate programs designed to open doors to new careers in as little as nine months. All our students benefit from an amazing faculty, and the personal attention and understanding that comes with our amazing 9:1 student-to-faculty ratio.
The results of that attention and wide array of programs tailored to students’ interests can be found in academic performance like that found below, in our Fall 2022 summary of academic honors. We’re proud of our students’ ability to juggle work, family, and community obligations while succeeding so remarkably in the classroom.
The Winter 2023 term is now underway, and features even more in-person on-site courses than the Summer or Fall terms, while still maintaining a healthy lineup of online and hybrid courses for those for whom work, family, or other demands make remote learning a preferable modality. The OCCC e-sports league has begun, with some gaming events already held early in the term, and dedicated student volunteers from the Associated Student Government are busy operating the “Shark Shack,” a resource featuring free groceries, toiletries, and more, for students in need of such support. If projects like the “Shark Shack” appeal to you, you should check in with the Office of Student Affairs to find out if serving on Associated Student Government is for you.
Please join the faculty and staff at Oregon Coast Community College in heartily congratulating the students on the Honors List, Dean’s List, and President’s list, below.
