Annual step increases will be based only on satisfactory work performance as documented in the annual performance evaluation.
Annual step increases will become effective on the employee’s anniversary date (as defined in subsection E of this policy) or the date of return to work (if the employee is on an approved leave of absence at the time the increase is due).
Once an employee reaches the top step of the applicable salary range, no further increases will be given other than Board- approved cost-of-living increases.
In the event that an employee’s overall rating is less than satisfactory and a step increase is not awarded, an interim evaluation may be conducted after a specified period of time. If work performance has improved to a satisfactory level, a step increase may be granted effective on that date. Such an increase will not impact the employee’s anniversary date.
The denial of a step increase is not subject to appeal.
