Testing Services
The placement test is a computerized test that helps your college evaluate your skills and place you into appropriate courses. This testing is not timed.
The placement test offers tests in writing, reading and math. Please bring a calculator with you for the math portion of the test. Pencils and scratch paper will be provided. You will receive the placement test results immediately upon completion of testing and your score report will include placement messages informing you what course level you placed into. Plan to stay 2 to 3 hours.

Please plan on arriving 20 to 30 minutes early. The test fee is $15. Occasionally it is necessary and/or beneficial for students to retest in a specific subject area. The fee for each retest in each subject area is $5. The testing/retesting fee may be paid prior to testing. Please bring your receipt and photo identification to the test session. Valid photo identification is needed in order to receive test scores. For testing in Newport, please schedule your test date and time by calling 541-867-8501 or 541-867-8505. For testing in Lincoln City, please call 541-996-6222.
Seating is limited, so reservations are required. No walk-ins accepted.

GED Testing Fees
The testing fee is $38 per test for a total of $152, and $10 for each retest. A testing candidate will be able to take two retests (per year), per subject area for a total of 8 tests. All initial and re-take fees are paid when a testing appointment is made.
Arriving for Your Test

- Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled test appointment.
- Please bring a valid government issued picture I.D. (I.D. should include the date of birth, address, and signature).
- Check in at the Student Services counter.
- Follow the directions given you to the GED testing waiting area.
- Read and sign the Candidate Rules Agreement (both sides).
- Wait quietly and listen for your name to be called.
Candidates that are 16 and 17 years of age will need to provide proof of one of the following requirements in order to take the GED test.

- A Release from Compulsory Attendance from last high school attended.
- Be a student in the GED Options program.
- Marriage.
- Legally emancipated from parents/guardians.
Candidates should refrain from bringing to the testing center large items such as backpacks, purses, laptops and other electronics, notebooks and books. Your personal items must fit in small lockers provided to you during testing. You will be asked to remove large watches and other large jewelry items before entering the testing room. The only things candidates need to bring to the testing center is their I.D. and car keys (if applicable).

Proctored Exams
Oregon Coast Community College can proctor exams for students enrolled in distance education (online) courses.
Online test proctoring is available by appointment only. Please call 541-867-8505 to schedule an appointment in Newport, or 541-994-4166 to schedule an appointment in Lincoln City.
Testing services may also be provided in cases where a student misses an in-class test or requires accommodations. Students requesting this service should print a missed exam/special accommodations proctoring form, give it to their instructor to complete and return to Testing Services, then call 541-867-8505 to schedule an appointment
