
The Aquarium Science Program Application for the upcoming academic year 2025-26 is now closed. We expect applications for the 2026-27 academic year to open on January 5, 2026. The application closes in mid-March and admission decisions typically are made by late April.
The 2-year AAS degree application is open to students that have finished high school or a GED program or can demonstrate equivalent academic accomplishment. Math and Writing evaluations may be required.
Persons applying for the Certificate program must have Bachelor’s degree in a natural science field before enrolling. Students in their final year of a 4-year program may apply and their admission will be contingent upon degree completion.
Applicants are evaluated on a number of topics including:
1. Working experience with animal care including caring for pets, volunteering at animal shelters, 4H and other agricultural programs, and volunteering at zoos & aquariums.
2. Academic performance, especially in science and math areas.
3. Written responses to short essay questions about life experiences.
4. Their understanding of the career pathways that are tied to the Aquarium Science Program
5. All applicants that meet minimum requirements will have a zoom interview with the admissions committee. The committee looks for knowledge about the careers related to Aquarium Science, experience with animal work, and an ability to work well with a team to solve problems.
