May 6, 2026Oregon Coast Community College Names New Vice President
Dr. Kristina Holton is new Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs
Oregon Coast Community College has selected Dr. Kristina Holton as its next Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs following a nationwide search.
Holton brings more than two decades of experience in education and community college leadership, including service as a faculty member, instructional coach, dean, and community leader. She currently serves as Dean of Science, Engineering and Mathematics at Linn-Benton Community College, where she oversees a broad portfolio of transfer and career-technical education programs serving students across the region.
Throughout her career, Holton has focused on student success, academic excellence, workforce preparation, and strengthening pathways that help students achieve their educational and career goals. Her experience spans both classroom teaching and senior academic leadership, providing her with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing students, faculty, and staff.
Holton has also played an active role in statewide community college leadership initiatives and brings significant experience in accreditation, institutional effectiveness, program development, strategic planning, and collaborative governance. Her familiarity with Oregon’s higher education landscape will allow her to begin contributing immediately to Oregon Coast Community College’s mission of serving students and communities throughout Lincoln County.
“Dr. Holton stood out as a thoughtful, student-centered leader with a strong understanding of Oregon community colleges and the unique role they play in transforming lives and strengthening communities,” said Dr. Marshall Mease Roache, President of OCCC. “Her experience as both a faculty member and administrator gives her a valuable perspective on teaching, learning, and student success. She understands accreditation, participatory governance, workforce education, and the importance of building strong relationships across campus and throughout the community.”
Dave Price, OCCC’s Vice President for Engagement, said the timing of Dr. Holton’s arrival is ideal. “We are excited to welcome her to OCCC, especially now,” he said. “The College is in the midst of a period of unprecedented growth and opportunity, as evidenced by new programs in Natural Resources and Psychology, a new BS in Nursing program, and the Oregon Coast Advanced Technology and Trades Center, now under construction on our Newport Campus. Dr. Holton will help ensure these programs and resources are developed successfully and efficiently, and always focused on student success.”
Holton earned her Doctor of Education degree from Oregon State University with an emphasis in Community College Leadership. She has served in leadership roles at both Linn-Benton Community College and Lane Community College and has been actively involved in statewide efforts to advance student achievement, leadership development, and educational opportunity across Oregon.
“I am deeply honored for the opportunity to join Oregon Coast Community College and become part of a college that is so foundationally connected to its communities,” said Holton. “OCCC has a strong reputation for student-focused education, innovative programming, and meaningful partnerships throughout Lincoln County. I look forward to working alongside faculty, staff, students, and community partners as we continue expanding opportunities for learners and supporting the region’s workforce and economic vitality.”
Holton is expected to begin her new role later this summer.
Like many of the candidates who interviewed for this position, Dr. Holton is a longtime colleague of outgoing Interim Vice President, Dr. Bruce Clemetsen. Clemetsen has devoted decades working in Oregon community colleges and, in 2025, was presented the Cam Preus Award for lifetime achievement by the Oregon Community College Association. “I am happy for OCCC and for my colleague, Dr. Holton,” Clemetsen said. “I am confident that Kristina will successfully transition and provide long-term leadership to OCCC and the community.”
The Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs serves as the College’s chief academic officer and provides leadership for instructional programs, student services, accreditation, institutional effectiveness, and student success initiatives.
