Paul Lask
I have been with OCCC since the Fall of 2018, after teaching writing and literature at Portland State University and Portland Community College.
The courses and content I teach reflect my love of literature and the environment. From Henry David Thoreau to Rachel Carson, Aldo Leopold to Annie Dillard, Environmental Literature (ENG 230) is a course near and dear to my heart. I have also learned the importance of the administrative side of the college, and am currently chairing the Instructional Leadership Team and Online Standards Group.
When not teaching and making music, I am a freelance journalist with a focus on the outdoors, environment, and science. My award-winning writing has appeared in Travel Oregon, Willamette Week, Newport News Times, Failbetter.com, and Cascadia Magazine. I am also an open ocean kayaker currently working on section-paddling the length of the Oregon Coast.
Please reach out if you’d like to chat about books, music, nature, grammar, kayaking, running, meditation, philosophy, and any mix of the herein. Check out my website for more on my background.
