February 14, 2022Mary Decker was a healthcare worker who believed in the power of education. A scholarship fund made in her honor provides for local scholarships to be awarded to Lincoln County students which help cover the cost of an undergraduate degree in a healthcare field.
Scholarships of up to $1,000 will be awarded based on available funding.
All applicants must be Lincoln County residents for at least one year and enrolled in a certificate or degree program at an accredited college or university.
Preference will be given to those enrolled in a 2- or 4-year undergraduate degree program in a health care field such as nursing, diagnostic imaging, lab, phlebotomy, pharmacy, etc.
Applicants must continue to work at least part-time, and be taking at least 9 credit hours of classes per term to receive the scholarship.
Financial need will be strongly considered, along with scholastic achievement.
Incomplete applications will not be considered.
The NLHF Executive Director, one NLHF Trustee, one North Lincoln Health District board member, and two members of the Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital administration and/or nurse management team will review and approve applications.
Scholarship applications are available at Taft High School, Career Tech High School, Oregon Coast Community College — North and South Campuses, or at the North Lincoln Hospital Foundation office.
