College To Open East County Center in Toledo
February 24, 2026OCCC Community Ed Spring Lineup Goes Live March 4 at 10 a.m.
We may not have had what felt like a real winter along the coast this year, but spring is just around the corner nonetheless — and so is a new season of Community Education at Oregon Coast Community College.
The full Spring 2026 Community Education lineup will go live at 10 a.m. PST on Wednesday, March 4, at oregoncoast.edu/communityed. At that same time, past OCCC Community Education students will receive an email with a direct link to explore and register for classes.
This spring, OCCC is offering 75 workshops and special events designed to inform, inspire, and connect our coastal communities. The lineup includes hands-on, outdoor, artistic, and discussion-based opportunities across Lincoln County. In addition to coastal adventures, spring offerings include en plein air painting, Irish dance, tapestry weaving, mixed-media art, and even a chocolate-enrobing workshop timed perfectly for spring and summer gatherings.
For those eager to dive into timely topics, OCCC will host a discussion series on K-12 educational funding led by an eight-term former U.S. Congressman now living in Lincoln County. Other courses will examine climate change and its impact on children’s lives, while language learners can begin Conversational German.
Among the season’s most distinctive offerings: a Sea Shanty class culminating in a live performance along a stunning bayfront — accompanied, if nature cooperates, by a chorus of sea lions. (And, those guys are always singing.)
The Spring 2026 edition of Catch the Wave magazine, featuring the complete schedule of Community Education offerings, will arrive in area mailboxes soon, starting on March 14. Community Education classes will take place in Lincoln City, Waldport, Newport, and Toledo. Spring is one of the most remarkable times of year on the Oregon Coast. OCCC invites community members to learn something new, connect with neighbors, and celebrate the season together.
