Oregon Coast Community College (OCCC) is proud to announce that it has been selected as one of two community colleges in Oregon, and one of just 100 institutions nationwide, to be named to the eligibility list for the U.S. Department of Education’s Postsecondary Success Recognition Program. This recognition is part of Secretary Miguel Cardona’s “Raise the Bar” initiative, aimed at highlighting institutions committed to driving student success, equity, and upward mobility.
The Postsecondary Success Recognition Program is a new initiative designed to spotlight colleges and universities that demonstrate outstanding support for students in completing their degrees or credentials, especially for those from underserved communities. The program acknowledges the important role institutions play in fostering academic and career success, helping ensure all students can thrive in their postsecondary education.
“We are thrilled to be recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in the inaugural year of this program,” said OCCC President Dr. Birgitte Ryslinge. “It’s a testament to the dedication of our faculty, staff, and community in supporting the academic journeys of our students. At OCCC, we take pride in offering personalized support and a range of affordable academic and career-focused programs that prepare students to participate in the workforce, further education, and serve their communities. We’re excited to continue this work as part of the ‘Raise the Bar’ initiative.”
The selection places OCCC among a distinguished group of institutions that have shown significant progress in promoting student retention, completion, and post-graduation success. The College is committed to expanding access to quality education, with a particular focus on underserved and rural communities in Lincoln County.
The full list of recognized institutions and more information about the Postsecondary Success Recognition Program can be found on the U.S. Department of Education’s website. OCCC will continue to build on this momentum, furthering its mission of providing exceptional educational opportunities on the Oregon Coast.
