Overtime
Employees will receive overtime compensation when budgeted funds are available if they are not exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act. Overtime compensation will be calculated at one and one half (1.5) times the employee’s regular hourly rate of pay (based on monthly salary rate). Overtime begins after the eighth hour of an employee’s shift (or after the tenth hour if a 4/10 week is in effect) or any hours worked in excess of forty hours per week. The OCCC work week is established as 12:00 a.m. Sunday through 11:59 p.m. Saturday.
Overtime will be calculated only on the basis of hours actually worked. Sick time, vacation time, and other hours not actually worked will not be included in determining total hours worked for the payment of overtime.
All overtime must be authorized in advance by the employee’s direct supervisor who will coordinate with the Business Office. An overtime authorization form (Attachment 2) will be used for that purpose.
In no event are exempt employees eligible for overtime compensation for extra hours worked.
