Subject: CARES Act Emergency Grants: Not Eligible (June 3, 2020)

(Student First Name),

Cares Act Grant eligibility status: You are not eligible based on the college’s criteria.  You did not have a FAFSA on file with the college.

Oregon Coast Community College received CARES Act Emergency Relief Funds as part of the Higher Education Emergency Relief Grant. The college will use at least $91,575 (50%) to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants as a direct distribution to students. More information is available at oregoncoastcc.org/caresact/

A student needed to be able to answer “yes” to all of the following questions to qualify.

  1. Are you considered eligible for Financial Aid (Title IV funds)?
  2. Are you admitted to the college?
  3. Did you complete the FAFSA for the 19-20 academic year?
  4. Are you making satisfactory academic progress?
  5. Did you take at least one in-person course during Winter Term?
  6. Did you take at least one course for credit during Spring Term?

Questions? If you feel an eligibility or calculation error was made, please reply to DeanOfStudents@oregoncoastcc.org and I will review your record. Allow at least one week for review.

Will I qualify next time?  As a continuing student you will need to complete a FAFSA for the 2020-21 school year.  If you can, complete the FAFSA now using the PCC school code. Later, we will contact you and have you switch to the OCCC school code (don’t worry if you get a denial notification from PCC, that’s expected).

COVID-19 Impact Survey: A national survey is available for student input. Please take a few minutes to share how you have been impacted. The survey is linked here: https://utexas.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_dcfhRfyslrXSKKF?axscd=42365200

Thanks for being an Oregon Coast student. It has been a tough term for all of us. I appreciate you hanging in there with us.
