Tutoring Volunteer Program

OCCC Volunteer Tutor Program

What is the OCCC Volunteer Tutor Program?
Please view the tutor handbook to learn more about our program. The OCCC Tutoring Center is an expanding organization that relies on volunteers from our community to provide academic support services to Oregon Coast Community College students.

The Tutoring Center is always taking applications for Volunteer Tutors in Lincoln County. We seek to serve students in Yachats, Waldport, Seal Rock, South Beach, Newport, Toledo, Siletz, Depoe Bay and Lincoln City. We are looking for anyone who is willing to help students to improve skills in mathematics, reading, writing, science, ESOL, GED, computers, study skills, resumes, other subject areas and life skills. Tutoring services are just one of the many ways OCCC is able to provide support to our growing population of credit and non-credit students.

NEW VOLUNTEERS: You are always needed, and are welcome to join us at any time during the year. The only qualifications are a GED or High School Diploma, patience, and an ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population of individuals from a variety of age groups, cultures, and backgrounds. You can fill out the volunteer tutor application and return it to our Tutor Coordinator in Student Affairs at the OCCC Newport Campus. You can drop it the front counter if our Tutor Coordinator isn’t in. Alternately you can e-mail our fillable PDF volunteer tutor application and e-mail it to dana.gallup@oregoncoast.edu.

STUDENTS: Please contact the Tutor Coordinator in Student Affairs at our Central County Campus. You can call the number below and leave a confidential voicemail, or send an email with your inquiry.
