Provides date and location infoIn October 2019, the Oregon Coast Community College Small Business Development Center (SBDC) launched its brand-new Central Coast Marketing Academy, funded by a grant from Lincoln County (using Transient Room Tax revenue). The program is a first-ever partnership between the SBDC and Oregon State University’s College of Business. Registration is still open, but space is limited – call 541-994-4166 for details.

“We have worked with OSU and our statewide SBDC Network to bring some of the sharpest minds in marketing to the coast to arm local business owners and managers with the very latest in marketing tools and technology, from robust sales strategy and management, to ‘geofencing’, to social media and other topics,” said SBDC Director Dave Price. The program will also pull in experts from across the state’s network of SBDCs, including Sean Harry, who will introduce participants to a suite of marketing tools within “GrowthWheel,” a robust business-planning and operations tool available to SBDC clients in Lincoln County and throughout Oregon.

Guest speakers who will lead presentations through the project run the gamut, from academia to Wall Street, and from Hwy. 101 to the Plaza in Kansas City. Scroll below for tentative presentation schedule.

How have past sessions been received? Here are some of the glowing comments provided by attendees at this inaugural session:

“Class surpassed my expectations. The experience of the presenters, their down-to-earth style, their qualification of content as ‘something we do in our jobs that likely applies to yours,’ and the wide range of helpful information was downright inspiring. It was three hours of quality material that passed quickly because I was consistently engaged.”
“Excellent job you guys!  May need a larger room next time. I am looking forward to the next class.”
“I have enough material to keep me thinking about sales/marketing for many months. It makes me really glad I’ve signed up for a year of thought-provoking education from a variety of presenters. Thank you for bringing a program of this caliber to the coast!”
“It was awesome! Being a long time local and university graduate I can’t express how grateful I am for the value provided. Almost unbelievable to have such a class offered in Lincoln City!”
Still not registered? There are still spaces in some sessions. CALL to register – 541-994-4166.

Future academy sessions will feature regional marketing luminaries,  OSU Marketing Professors Hal Koenig (‘Building a Brand Community’ and ‘Market Research on a Budget’) and other Oregon marketing experts.

The Marketing Academy is designed for established businesses in the hospitality, dining, or retail industries (primarily, though not exclusively).

The county grant will cover much of the tuition (all but $150) for the inaugural class of the Marketing Academy, which will meet monthly from October 2019 through May 2020. For more information, call 541-994-4166.

The SBDC also offers free, confidential, one-on-one business advising to any business owner – or anyone considering starting a business – in Lincoln County. Register anytime for free advising here, or call 541-994-4166 for additional information.
